The Pitt Community College Small Business Center is the state’s best in terms of small business startups, according to the N.C. Community College System’s Small Business Center Network Metrics.
The report also shows PCC’s Small Business Center to be in the top 10 of each metric recorded for 2014 and 2015. In all, the NCCCS documents six metrics for the North Carolina Small Business Center Network, composed of small business centers at each of the state’s 58 community colleges.
In addition to startups, the NCCCS keeps track of the number of jobs each center creates, retains and expands, the number of training events each offers, the number of attendees at those events, total clients, and small business counseling hours utilized.
The PCC Small Business Center ranked first in the number of startups with 69 and third in the number of small business counseling hours utilized with 1,420. Overall, the center ranked fifth within the N.C. Small Business Center Network.
PCC Small Business Center Director Jim Ensor said the high marks will bring additional performance-based funding to the PCC Small Business Center, boost the area economy, and enhance the quality of programs available to small businesses in Pitt County.
“We’re honored to receive this recognition from the state office and for the amazing work our staff does every day,” Ensor said. “The additional funding will go a long way in helping us assist the more than 3,000 Pitt County residents who use our services every year.”
Located within the PCC Greenville Center on Memorial Drive, the PCC Small Business Center is dedicated to training potential and existing small business owners.
